Welcome to
Coaches'
Corner
with Coach Amy Bieniek
Whether you are coaching for the first time or your tenth season, this is your go-to spot for everything you need. Practice plans, skill guides, rules, safety resources, and more, all in one place. You do not need to be an expert. You just need to show up, stay positive, and care about these kids.
Meet Coach Amy
The face behind
the dugout
Amy Bieniek has been part of the WHGSL community for years, first as a softball parent and then as a coach who could not sit still in the stands. Having grown up playing softball herself, Amy developed a lifelong love for the game and now volunteers her time to help pass that same love on to the next generation of players. She has coached across multiple divisions, mentored first-time coaches, and built a reputation for making every player feel like they belong on the field.
The Coaches' Corner exists because Amy kept hearing the same questions from new coaches: "Where do I start?" "What drills should I run?" "What are the rules for my division?" Instead of answering one parent at a time, she decided to put everything in one place — creating a resource designed to support coaches, build confidence, and ultimately create a better experience for every player.
Why We Created The Coaches' Corner
Some volunteer coaches are parents who signed up because nobody else would. Some love the sport but have not been around it in a while. Some, if not most, do not have softball backgrounds. And honestly? That is exactly what makes them great.
Whether they know the pitching distance for their division yet or not, one thing rings true for every single one of them: they know their kid loves the game and they want to help.
The Coaches' Corner is for them. Every resource here was hand-picked by coaches who have been in those shoes. No jargon, no overwhelm, just what you need to walk onto that field feeling prepared.
Have a resource you think should be here? Let us know.

From Coach Amy
"The best thing you can do at your first practice is learn every player's name. Say it when you greet them, say it when you coach them, say it when you celebrate them. Using a child's name tells them that they are seen, valued, and that they belong. Hearing your name is one of the most meaningful sounds in the world — and that's especially true for kids. When a player feels seen, valued, and known by their coach, confidence grows... and amazing things start to happen."
